Palapa Experience

  • All Palapa Tours are on the water for 1.5 hours, arrive 20 min prior to boarding for check-in and enjoy a drink on the dock, before and after your tour!

    • During your Tiki experience, we will be playing a selection of music to enhance the summer vibes.

    • Private Charters can select their own music.

  • If you book an entire Private Charter, then yes, the boat is private!

    With individual tickets, you will be with other guests.

    The maximum capacity per boat is 12 persons. Private parties or corporate events can have up to 24 people if you contact us to book both our boats!

  • Please arrive 20 minutes before your scheduled departure to allow time to check-in.

  • Yes! We are a fully licensed bar, offering a selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages.

  • All purchases onboard are cashless—we accept credit and debit cards.

  • Yes! You’re welcome to bring your own food. We also have chips available for purchase onboard.

  • We recommend bringing sunscreen, sunglasses, bug spray, and a hat for sun protection. Depending on the weather, a light jacket, long-sleeved shirt, or cover-up may be useful.

  • Drinks are not included in the ticket or charter price. However, we have a fully licensed tiki bar onboard with a selection of reasonably priced cocktails, beer, wine, and non-alcoholic options available for purchase.

    Your first drink comes served in a complimentary souvenir Palapa glass, which is yours to keep and used for all refills throughout the cruise.

  • Yes! There is a bathroom on board, at the back of the boat.

  • The choice between Individual Tickets and a Private Charter depends on the experience you're looking for:

    Individual Tickets – Great for smaller groups or solo guests looking to meet new people and enjoy the tiki boat experience in a shared setting. You'll still get the same tropical vibes, scenic views, and onboard bar service, just alongside other guests.

    Private Charter – Booking a private charter means you’ll have the entire boat to yourself, allowing for a customized experience with your choice of music, guest list, and exclusive use of the boat’s amenities.

  • There is an 18% auto-grat on each bill. If the crew goes above and beyond, show them with additional gratuity!

SAILING

  • Palapa Tours departs from 319 Queens Quay W at the East Corner of HTO Park.

    We cruise for 90 minutes! Pick up and drop off are from the same place

  • Each boat is equipped with 12 bar seats, a TV, a Sound System, a fully functioning washroom & on-board WiFi.

    Palapa Boats are 20 feet wide X 20 feet long, hexagonal in shape, with a beautiful handcrafted wooden bar, and a thatched roof! This space is welcoming, fun, and guaranteed to please! Tiki Vibes only!

    Average speed is 4-6 nautical miles per hour. 

  • So long as conditions are safe we will sail rain or shine! Please dress appropriately for the weather. In cases of inclement weather (i.e. storms) we may postpone the cruise. You will be notified in advance whenever possible.

  • As long as another tour is not schedule next, then we encourage extending your tour, please speak to your staff for Tour Extension Rates.

SAFEtY & ACCESSIBILITY

  • You are responsible for staying under control and abiding by our behavioural agreement. If the Captain determines your behaviour is inappropriate you will be removed from the tour without refund and appropriate measures will be taken.

  • Children of all ages are welcome on private charters, but must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times. We have a children’s life jacket onboard, however it is not one size fits all.

    All public tours are 19+ only, as alcohol is served throughout the cruise and the vibe is geared toward an adult experience.

    Why this policy? Our tiki boats are open-air and have limited space. We want to ensure all guests are safe and able to enjoy the cruise in a comfortable, age-appropriate setting.

  • Pets are permitted aboard our ship for private charters, and they must wear a lifejacket at all times.

    Emotional Support Animals (ESAs) are always welcome for public and private charters.

  • Our ships are outfitted with a lifejacket for everyone. As our vessels are high stability pontoon boats, the sail is very smooth and does not necessitate wearing a lifejacket or PFD while on board. However, the water in the harbour can get choppy.

  • Municipal by-law prohibits the smoking and vaping of tobacco, cannabis, and any other substance in public places and workplaces including our Tiki Boats. 

  • Unfortunately, the vessels are not accessible at this time!

BOOKING & BILLING

  • Palapa Tours requires a minimum of 3 passengers to set sail. This policy does not apply to Private Charters. All bookings are Final Sale*.

    *Refunds are only available if Trip Protection was purchased at the time of booking. With Trip Protection, guests may cancel up to 48 hours before their scheduled Tour for a Full Reimbursement of the ticket or charter amount, including HST, minus the cost of Trip Protection and Processing Fees.

    Within 48 hours of the tour, any changes or rescheduling are at the sole discretion of Palapa Tours; in the event of same-day inclement weather, including storms or unsafe conditions, Palapa Tours reserves the sole right to reschedule bookings or issue a raincheck/credit, with all decisions regarding operating and touring safety made exclusively by Palapa Tours. 

    All bookings may be rescheduled at no charge up to 8 days prior to the scheduled tour date.

    Guests Who: Fail to arrive on time for departure time stated on the reservation or arrive under the influence of drugs and/ or alcohol will have their booking cancelled with no refund or credit.

    Guest Who: Behave disruptively toward the captain, crew, or other guests, or who smoke or vape on the dock or vessels, may have their tour terminated immediately and will be subject to a $500 charge. 

    An 18% service gratuity will be automatically applied to all onboard bar tabs, and applicable purchases.

  • With Trip Protection, you can cancel or reschedule your Palapa Tour for any reason up to 48 hours before the tour's start, offering reimbursement for the full ticket/charter amount (including HST), less the cost of Trip Protection and processing fees.

    After the 48 Hours it is Palapa Tours discretion to adjust or reschedule your tour in case of inclement weather (i.e. storms).

    Trip Protection is available at check-out.

  • You cannot remove any tickets unless Trip Protection was purchased.

    You can add tickets up until the time of your tour as long as the maximum number of guests has not been reached.
